Life has enough distractions. Kids screaming, boss interrupting, boss screaming, and so forth. When you sit down to read, whether from a book or a computer, the last thing you need are unnecessary distractions.
The computer industry has been slow to accept this. Look at almost any modern computer program and you╒ll find a clutter of buttons, icons, and menus. They╒re there when you need them, and that╒s great. But when you╒re trying to read, they╒re just another distraction.
That╒s why we let the buttons disappear. You know where they are, and they╒re still available to you at all times. They╒re just not ╥in your face╙ all the time.
